I am an award-winning CEO and executive advisor with more than 20 years of experience leading teams, business units, and organizations across corporate, government, higher education, nonprofit, and social impact sectors. In my two most recent executive roles, I have served at both the local and enterprise CEO levels, carrying responsibility for strategy, culture, talent, revenue, performance, and organizational results.

Throughout my career, I have led enterprise and organizational transformations that produced historic gains in culture, revenue, strategic performance, and leadership capacity. I have built and repositioned organizations, guided executive teams through complexity, and developed multiple generations of leaders who now serve in executive roles of their own.

I bring both strategic perspective and operating experience to my advisory work. I am not advising from the sidelines. By day, I continue to serve as the CEO of a leading education and workforce organization. That in-the-arena experience shapes how I advise leaders navigating high-stakes decisions and consequential transformation.

My work has been recognized by the Charlotte Business Journal, including being named a Most Admired CEO and Power 100 leader, and by the State of South Carolina as Innovator of the Year. My leadership perspectives have been featured on SiriusXM, national leadership forums, and podcasts hosted by New York Times bestselling authors.

Since founding CMEG & Company in 2016, I have partnered with executive teams, boards, colleges and universities, nonprofits, businesses, and government organizations through executive advisory, organizational transformation, leadership development, strategic facilitation, and speaking. Clients engage me when the stakes are high, the path forward is not obvious, and meaningful change must move from intention to execution.

My graduate studies in strategic communications, leadership, and higher education have strengthened my perspective, but my deepest expertise has been developed by leading people and organizations through transformation in real time.

I am also the creator of Wisdom for Work®, where I share practical insights for leaders shaping what's next, and the founder of The Mourning Manager™, a platform created after the unexpected loss of my mother in 2024. Through The Mourning Manager, I equip high-performing people and workplaces with the language, tools, and support to navigate grief when life changes forever.

Most colleagues and professional friends know me as DPG, a nickname that dates back to my early years as a college instructor.

Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, reading, discovering great restaurants, spending time with family and friends, and slowing down with a lo-fi instrumental playlist on a quiet screened porch. Those moments remind me that rest, reflection, and renewal are essential to leading well.
